Follow-up and Implementation

Background
  MANDATES

Paragraph 74, Declaration of Mar del Plata, 2005: We recognize the pivotal role that the OAS plays in the implementation and follow-up of Summit mandates, and we instruct the General Secretariat to continue to act as technical secretariat; provide support for meetings of the Summit Implementation Review Group (SIRG), ministerial meetings, and specialized conferences; coordinate the participation of civil society; and ensure the dissemination of information on the Summits Process and the commitments adopted by the countries.

Summits of the Americas Follow-up System (SISCA)

By providing greater efficiency in the processing of information and systematization of results, SISCA serves as a useful tool in promoting greater transparency and effectiveness in the follow-up process on the Summits of the Americas mandates. It also serves as an important information database which can be easily accessed. This information demonstrates the real impact of Summit decisions and programs for peoples of the Americas.

The Summits of the Americas Secretariat developed SISCA to:
  • Promote information sharing and collaboration
  • Facilitate the alignment of goals and strategies with mandates
