…that the conditional cash transfer program "Avancemos", established by the
Government of Costa Rica, helped more than 185,000 students continue their studies in 2011? The program provides economic assistance to youth in poverty or at risk situations in exchange for their continued presence in secondary school. In 2009, 84% of adolescents were enrolled in the secondary education system, thus helping to alleviate the incidence of poverty and contributing to the universalization of secondary education in Costa Rica.
